Terma Statues from the Chokling Dzogchen Desum
In 2003 we were staying at the Kela Monastery founded by Chokgyur Lingpa in Kham, Eastern Tibet, in order to receive the empowerments of the Chokling Tersar. This visionary cycle of meditation teachings in more than 30 volumes was revealed in the 19th century by the great-grandfather of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, and has become an important source of inspiration and accomplishment in the Nyingma and Kagyu traditions.
Perhaps the most important treasure text (terma) revealed by Chokgyur Lingpa (along with Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo) is the Dzogchen Desum, a collection of histories, prayers and meditation texts associated with the early masters of the Dzogchen lineage in 1857. While at the monastery, the incarnation of Chokgyur Lingpa showed us a statue said to have been revealed with that cache of treasure. Aspirations at that time to make reproductions of this statue have finally come to fruition, and one is pictured here.
These statues are made from a resin composite, and are filled with relics, incense, mantras and texts according to the traditional instructions of the lineage. They are completely unique, and not even the holders of the Chokling lineage we approached outside of Tibet had seen or even heard of this statue. Numbers are very limited, but if you wish to add one to your shrine or offer it as a gift, please visit us at Future Alchemy.
All funds raised through the sale of these images will go to help Chönyi Ling to spread the teachings of the Vajrayana; bring teachers from Bhutan, Tibet, India and Nepal; teach meditation; build stupas; support practitioners in meditation retreat; and especially to help spread the lineage of the Chokling Tersar.

Kutsab Images of Guru Padmasambhava
A Kutsab (Tibean: sku tshab), ‘representative’ — is a statue made in the likeness of a Buddha, meditation deity, or great master. These images are used as objects of inspiration and a source of blessing for practitioners of the Vajrayana school of Buddhism.
Several kutsabs of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) were made during his stay in Tibet, some by the Master himself. A portion of these were hidden as Terma and later discovered by the emanations of the twenty-five disciples and king Trisong Deutsen. These incredibly sacred images were made out of sacred substances and relics, and blessed by Guru Padma himself to act as his representatives in the future.
About these images, Tulku Thondup Rinpoche writes:
Kutsabs are the most important and rare terma images of Guru Padmasambhava, blessed as his own representatives by the Guru himself. Generally, there are hundreds of terma images of him, but according to many Nyingma scriptures there are only twenty-five kutsab images.
We are very fortunate to have received a beautiful, perfect, blessed reproduction of one of these extremely rare statues. Using high-quality modern molding technology, we have made a few replicas of this image, and filled them with an extraordinary collection of sacred relics. All monies from the sale of these images will go to help Chönyi Ling to spread the teachings of the Vajrayana; bring teachers from Bhutan, Tibet, India and Nepal; teaching meditation; building stupas; and supporting practitioners in meditation retreat.
The materials used to fill and bless these statues include:
